In the interview for Kornblit Talks, Urszula Okarma shares reflections on her own leadership journey and experiences related to building the success of an international company on a solid foundation of values. She emphasizes the following:
Fighting stereotypes within the organization
“Sometimes, you might unintentionally discriminate against someone, so take a close look at your processes. Think about whether you’re truly inviting everyone in. These are simple mechanisms. It’s worth conducting an audit to confirm where there are gaps or what we want to improve. However, the foundation is values – that we are open to talent, not specific traits unrelated to competencies, such as gender, age, or beliefs.”
Closing the pay gap
“I see no justification for someone receiving 20% more or less for the same skills and the same commitment. At our company, the pay gap is at 1.2%. It’s probably impossible to reduce it to absolute zero, but we’re already at the level of statistical error.”
Increasing women’s participation in business
“I have many fantastic male colleagues who, through their actions, are changing the world of finance, creating conditions for the development of diverse people in their teams. That’s why it’s so important to involve men in efforts to bring about rapid change. We are not fighting against men; we are creating a stable and good ecosystem with them. Let’s support each other as women and support the wise men we need. Especially because leadership involves not only development but also creating opportunities.”
